Donation and transparency in Ram Mandir

Charity has special importance in our Sanatan Dharma. Donation is given from birth till death. This donation is also given in many ways. Food donation and fruit donation are meant directly to fill the stomach of the people. The body itself is the instrument of action. Therefore, food is necessary to keep the body healthy. Just a month ago, there was a stampede of workers and employees due to the lockdown. At that time food donation was most important. Donation of animals is also included in our religious tradition. Cows were donated to sages and saints. The ashram residents used their milk. There is a tradition of donating even at the time of death.

It is believed that our soul crosses the Vaitarani by holding the tail of the cow. Similarly, there is donation of labor and donation of property. In our country, great donors have been sacrificed in whose name the Raksha Sutra is tied even today…Yenbaddho Bali Raja Danavendromaha Bala…. Who does not know the greatness of Karna, whose fame and strength, was the great donor during the Mahabharata period? In a country of such philanthropists, how can those who donated for the construction of Ram temple lag behind? It has also been said about charity that one can donate with the right hand but the left hand should not even know about it. This means that charity should not be boasted about. Those who donate for Ram temple are not able to save themselves from this temptation. Therefore, the responsibility of those looking after the arrangements for the construction of Ram temple has increased. They will also have to maintain transparency of this donation. Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Trust formed for the temple of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, had said that the construction work of the divine temple has started after the Bhoomi Pujan by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After the Bhoomi Pujan of Ram Mandir, people have donated openly. Till now i.e. before August 24, donations worth more than Rs 60 crore had been received. Everyone is contributing in the construction of Lord Shri Ram’s temple. A senior official of Vishwa Hindu Parishad has already said that this temple is the beginning of making India of Ramtva.

After the Bhoomi Pujan of Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, Ram devotees are donating openly. By the time these lines were written, more than Rs 60 crore had been received as donations for the construction of the grand temple. Earlier, Ram Janmabhoomi Trust had handed over Rs 12 crore held with it after the formation of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Since the formation of the trust, more than Rs 50 crore has been deposited in the account as donation. Let us tell you that even before laying the foundation stone of Ramlala, the Ram devotees had started receiving donations from the President and General Secretary of Ram Mandir Trust. Till now, Ram Mandir Trust has received donations of approximately Rs 50 crore and several tonnes of gold and silver.

Champat Rai, General Secretary of Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, said that Ram devotees had been coming to the Trust President Mahant Nritya Gopal Das for the last two months and were giving something or the other regarding the construction of Ram temple. They were especially giving silver. At the same time, late Bajrang Das, the priest of Maniram Das Cantonment, had also given 40 kg silver bricks for the construction of the temple. Similarly, 10 kg, 1 kg, 5 kg, a quintal of silver was kept in total and there were also gold grains which were kept for safe keeping. Earlier, Trust General Secretary Champat Rai had issued a video message saying that the construction work of the grand and divine temple of Lord Shri Ram on his holy birthplace has started after the Bhoomi Pujan by the Honorable Prime Minister. Many families must have seen the Bhoomi Pujan through email and WhatsApp. Many people would be eager to contribute their money towards the construction of the temple. Champat Rai said that you can transfer your money directly to the account of Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra of State Bank of India. All the details of transfer were made available to you on the official Twitter handle of Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.

Thus, people from all over the country are donating for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. To make the temple grand and more and more people can donate for this temple, donations to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth area will be exempted under Section 80G of Income Tax.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has kept this donation under income tax exemption. Under this, those who donate to the trust are being provided a deduction to the extent of 50 percent. The CBDT has notified Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha area as a place of historical importance and important place of public worship. Not all religious trusts get the benefit of exemption under Section 80G. Recently, a notification has been issued under clause (b) under sub-section (2) of section 80G of the Income Tax Act because it will be of historical importance and a place of public worship, hence it will be eligible for tax exemption. The benefit is being given, that is, this exemption will be available only on donating to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetrahan Trust has been formed for the construction of the temple and through this, donations are also being taken from the devotees. Through this, tax exemption is being provided to those who donate for the construction of Ram Temple.
Just a few days after the Supreme Court’s decision on who will have control over the construction and maintenance of the temple, there were reports from Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, Ramalya Trust and Temple Construction Trust regarding their respective claims. Now donations are coming from all over the country and abroad for the construction of Ram temple, so everyone’s eyes are on this too. Therefore, transparency has to be taken care of.
